• Kahu Charlie Kama

Charlie Kama was born on the Big Island and has been married to his lovely wife Mapu for 39 awesome years. They have three children, 2 sons, Caz, Sam and 1 daughter, Kui. They have nine wonderful grandchildren who they truly enjoy.

Charlie grew up on the streets of Panaewa and Keaukaha.  He enjoyed playing and coaching team sports such as basketball, football and volleyball. He loves spending time watching his grandchildren playing sports and enjoys the beach. And he, being a part of the streets, Charlie got caught up in the drug scene and was incarcerated.  It was in prison that God got a hold of Charlie’s heart and he gave his life over to Jesus.  Charlie has been serving in the Prison Ministry for over 18 years.  He was “called” to be Kahu in 2006.

In 2016, God called Kahu Charlie to plant a church in his hometown of Keaukaha/Panaewa, to come home and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to his ohana, his friends and the community.  In Mark 5:19, Jesus told him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”  Kahu Charlie’s heart is to reach the lost and those hurting in our community.  To tell them about the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the New Life he offers everyone.  Thus, we have “Hale Pule Ke Ola Hou, “A New life Church”
